Business Technologist A Business Technologist is an engineer or technology person that is first a business person. One that applies business concepts and theories before applying technology solutions.
Domain Name Domain Names are the familiar, easy to remember names for computers on the Internet (such as bobsgroup.com). They correspond to a series of numbers (called Internet Protocol numbers) that serve as routing addresses on the Internet. Domain names are used generally as a convenient way of locating information and reaching others on the Internet.

First level names (like .com .net .org, etc.) are dictated by ICANN  Second Level domain names (like bobsgroup.com) are purchased from Domain Name Registrars. We can help you purchase a second level domain name. Third (forth, fifth, etc.) level domain names (like www.bobsgroup.com) are simply programmed into DNS servers of authority once you own a second level domain name.

Domain Name Server
     (DNS)
Domain Name Server is a server that lives on the Internet or Intranet and provides Domain Name resolution services to the network. Your computer only understands IP addresses and a Domain Name Server converts Names (which we humans understand) to IP addresses (which computers understand).

Domain Name Server
    of Authority
Domain Name Server of Authority is a specific server (or pair of servers or more) that is the authoritative Domain Name Server for any particular second level (and sometimes higher) domain name. This server contains the necessary records for all domain information for the names it is assigned. This type of server may server as few as one domain name or as many names as you like. We can provide you with your own DNS server.

Domain Name Server
     Root Server
Root Domain Name Servers are servers on the internet that point to the first level domain name servers. In tern the first level domain name servers point to the domain name server of authority to find second level and higher domain names.

Domain Name Server
    Caching
A Caching Domain Name Server is not authoritative for any particular name, but is used as a 'cache' for many domain names. It stores domain name information for a period of time for all domains that it has been requested to resolve. It's main function in life is to server-up domain name addresses for requests made by other computers within its network. Your Internet Service Provider has Caching Domain Name Servers for you to use so that your computer can find web pages on the Internet.

Domain Name Server
    Hosting
Domain Name Server Hosting is the process of hosting your domain name on someone else's domain name server. If you own a domain name such as yourcompany.com, there must be at least two Domain Name Servers of Authority to resolve your name to the Internet. This can be provided by an ISP or Domain Name Server Hosting company of some kind. We can provide you with  DNS Hosting services.

Hosting Hosting is the process of a company providing a place on their servers for your functions. For example, if you have a web site but do not have a web server, an ISP or Web 'Hosting' company has a computer that will provide you with the function of serving or 'hosting' your web site. This name can be applied to many functions on the Internet such as Web Sites, Email Accounts, Domain Name Servers, Database Applications, even Servers themselves can be hosted, plus much more. We can provide Hosting Services for any of your requirements.

Imagineering Imagineering is the process of Imagining a presentation then Engineering the concept with the same imagination.

Imagineer Imagineers are Engineers with Imagination - and MORE. Or should I say Imaginative people that are also Engineers. There are many engineers, but few people posses real imagination.

We use the term in association with Internet/Computer/Web 'Engineers' with Imagination, Creativity, Presentation Ability and Business sense!

Imagineer is a created word and does not appear in any dictionaries that I know of to date. It was originally created by Walt Disney many years ago to name their engineering firm and the people within it. Walt Disney Imagineering is a component of the Walt Disney Company that is responsible for designing and creating rides and attractions you see in the Disney parks, and more.

Walt Disney Imagineering was initially formed in 1952, although it wasn't originally called that, by Walt Disney.  There was a small handful of animators and movie makers that worked for Disney.  Those few were called upon to think up and design Walt's greatest dream...Disneyland.

Although we are not associated with the Disney organization in anyway, we are using their term to define our process and methodology. The term fits more than Disney's organization and should become a true method of creation for any presentational project.

Another created word by Walt is: Illusioneering. I'm sure you figure out what that means!

Kilroy

Kilroy

The cartoon character Kilroy and the phrase Kilroy was Here propagated mostly during World War II and was posted all over Europe during the war. There are several 'legends' as to how and who started this. Even the real dates are unknown. We use a little divider at the bottom of most of our web pages that is a Kilroy representation. Kind of a Kilroy Was Here and Kilroy Is Watching You. It's just for fun, much like during World War II.

Propeller-Head

Propeller Head

Propeller-Head also known as a Techno-Nerd, Techno-Wizard, Techno-Geek, Techno-Weenie or Computer Geek.
These guys and gals are people who live for computers and can make them sit up at do almost anything by magic. They always know how to fix your system and they make it look so simple. Many companies employ Propeller-Heads to maintain their networks and design nifty computer stuff. They sometimes even do Internet Web stuff and other mysterious things. Propeller-Heads are nothing like Parrot Heads, although there are many Propeller-Heads that ARE Parrot Heads. For more information on this 'human malady' check out Propeller-Heads.

Resolve
    Domain Name
Resolve a Domain Name is one of the actions that a Domain Name Server does. The Server accepts a domain name and attempts to convert or 'resolve' the domain name to an IP address for a requesting computer. If it does not know the IP address is will ask other Domain Name Servers until it finds out and passes the information to your computer. The server may actually be required to go to the original Domain Name Server of Authority before it can find the necessary IP address to give to the requesting computer.

TCP/IP TCP/IP is a network communications protocol. It is the network protocol of the Internet and many other networks.

Technofix Technofix is an approach commonly used by may consultants and computer 'experts' (propeller-heads) to 'fix' a business problem using their specific known computer technologies. Not all business solutions need a 'computer fix'. The approach should always be to consider the business issues at hand and provide the appropriate solution using technology when it actually fits the solution. We provide Business Solutions with Technology, not a simple technofix to patch a current situation.
